I received the product complimentary. Keracolor Clenditioner, Merlot, is a great conditioner with subtle color and a pleasant fragrance. It coated my hair with a subtle beautiful highlight, instead of a full color transformation; yet, the color is more radiantly visible in sunlight. The ease of application and removal is flawless. Overall, I absolutely love the results.
Okay so I tried the Color + Clenditioner in Merlot and I have really dark hair, so I wasn't expecting anything too crazy and yeah, the color payoff was pretty subtle on me. You can see a hint of that burgundy tone in certain lighting, but it's not super bold if your hair is close to black like mine. BUT the real reason I actually love this?? The moisture. My hair felt SO soft after using it like noticeably smoother, hydrated, and just healthier overall. It honestly feels more like a deep conditioner than a color product, which I didn't mind at all. So if you have darker hair and you're looking for a slight tint plus a lot of moisture, this is a good one. Just don't expect a dramatic color change unless your hair is lighter.
I will say, as you might expect, you'll see far more dramatic results with lighter hair, but I wanted to try this because I have dark hair but wanted some change that wasn't going to require a lot of maintenance and since this just fades and eventually washes out after so many washes I thought it fit the bill. I'm in my 40's now and though I still feel like it's totally ok for me to have hair that's whatever color of the rainbow I want, I don't think the general population is quite on board with the idea… so a a happy compromise for me was this product in the color MERLOT. While using this product I applied the first time to dry hair, saturating from roots to ends. I personally didn't see a drastic difference but when my bf came in while I was blowdrying my hair his instant reaction was "Woah! What's up red?" lol i don't know why bc i truly didn't see a crazy difference. The 2nd and 3rd times I applied it to wet hair, and all of the times i applied it to only one side of my head bc i wanted to see the difference side by side. ( if the difference were crazy I'd have applied it to the other side right away but since it wasn't and since I work from home I just went with it for testing purposes.) So here's what I've come up with through doing all of the above: This product as mentioned on its packaging and directions is more noticeable on lighter hair tones, and shouldn't be expected to cover up any grey hair. In my case on my fairly dark brown hair ( that as fate would have it has more grey in it than I previously thought… but I digress …) this product visually added more depth and dimension and though it didn't color the greys … it did mask them a bit more than I had expected. That was a happy added bonus. The real magic is in how this stuff made my hair feel. It left my hair feeling SO SOFT and idk .. conditioned I guess. I love it and will repurchase and would recommend it to anyone. GREAT PRODUCT!
I have naturally dark brown hair that I box color at home a red to deep purple color every 6 months. This product smelled amazing, was easy to use and clean up plus gave me a nice "pick me up" color boost between colorings. I used the Merlot color and I got the product for free in exchange for writing the review
I decided to try the product for about 10 minutes on as I already have existing color and wanted to see where it would leave it after one application. I really liked the results, as it made my existing color more vibrant and smoother my hair very well. I did think the color would be a bit darker, but am excited to continue using to see how it builds. The only real drawback so far is that the color do a great job of sticking to my already colored hair, but I wish it had taken more to my roots without previous color. Next time I will try to put the product only on my roots for a longer period to see if they can match the vibrancy. Overall, a great product!
